Class Description
For beginners, this monotype class can be the first adventure into the wonderful world of printmaking. For seasoned monotypers it provides a chance to explore new techniques using templates and stencils to expand the use of watercolors on plexi and to experiment with chine colle. Beginners will learn monotype basics, as well as use of the press. Returning students are encouraged to develop their own projects through experimentation. Principles of composition, design and color theory will be integrated into the class. This class is solvent free using water miscible printing inks, watercolors, watercolor crayons, and other water-soluble materials. Manhattan Graphics will supply some water miscible inks. A limited amount of water miscible oil paints as well as one plexiglass plate per student will also be available. Students will supply their own watercolors and gouache. A supply list will be provided upon registration. *includes 8 hours of open workshop time Instructor Bio: Liz Marraffino is a painter, printmaker, and ceramic artist whose work has been exhibited in group and solo shows in New York City, Dobbs Ferry, NY, Prague, Amsterdam, Australia, and Great Britain. Cancellation Policy
STUDENT CLASS CANCELLATION If a student must drop out of a class, 75% of tuition will be refunded as long as MGC is notified 15 days or more prior to the start date of the class. If a student notifies MGC less than 15 days prior, no tuition can be refunded. Membership and materials fee are non-refundable.
