Two Hour Printmaking Workshop
Class Description
MGC Staff : K Sarrantonio and Eneida Cardona In advance: Square will share images (3-4 we may not use all of these). MGC will prepare acetate films and pre-exposed silkscreens for printing Workshop: -Tour of the studio and brief verbal overview of various printmaking processes -Demonstration of how an image is transferred to a screen to become a stencil -Conceptual explanation of how the printing process works -Overview of best practice guidelines that must be followed for preservation of MGC property (ie do not allow ink to dry on the screen, avoid printing onto surfaces of tables) -Visual demonstration of printing and registration using hinge clamps and acetate “flop” method -Assistance provided to participants as they pull their own prints -Gentle directions and suggestions for experimentation and customization to bring out individual vision and creativity MGC will provide Prep: Photoemulsion, Acetate films Workshop: Acetate sheets for flops At least three colors of ink (blue, black, light yellow) Paper towels Gloves 24 sheets of printmaking paper (15x22”) 24 sheets of newsprint Masking tape MGC will loan 2-4 silkscreens Squeegees of various sizes Spray bottles Hair dryer Square team will bring Smocks/aprons or clothes that can get permanently ink-stained Optional: additional flat, blank, paper-based items. Such as: Greeting cards Cardboard coasters Notebooks
Cancellation Policy
STUDENT CLASS CANCELLATION If a student must drop out of a class, 75% of tuition will be refunded as long as MGC is notified 15 days or more prior to the start date of the class. If a student notifies MGC less than 15 days prior, no tuition can be refunded. Membership and materials fee are non-refundable.
